CONSCIOUS CRUMBS

Human imagination and becomes a food for inquiry into the future in which counting / intelligent machines will process the codes of matter in an unimaginable way. Imprisoned today and determined by the political limitations of capitalism, we implement oppressive and suicidal scenarios not only for our species.

Rebuilding this approach is imperative survival and changing the model of life. According to Rosi Braidotti (Braidotti 2014: 189) “it is related with the project of freeing human embodiment from socialized-resisting valorization productivity towards “bodies without organs,” that is, without organized efficiency. (…) program with two goals. First, it seeks to reinterpret our bodies in their deep structures as elements of the nature-culture continuum. Second, it takes the political dimension into account by establishing a framework for bodily recomposition materiality towards alternatives that stand in opposition to deceptive performance and exceptional the ruthlessness of advanced capitalism.”

Our human societies do not follow a global policy of sustainable coexistence of all planetary species, we take absolute control of life reducing it to a humanistic matrix, this kind of anachronistic software becomes incompatible with the real. The false growth is a deformity virus with the right optimal connections and dependencies, our fragile self must move beyond the state individualistic consciousness, the moment comes to transcend it. The subject is an evolutionary engine, (Braidotti 2014: 269) equipped with its own embodied temporality, both in the sense of time written in the genetic code, and in terms of the genealogical time of individual memories. So if embodied, the subject constituted by the biopower is a complex molecular organism, biochemical factory of constant and wandering genes, an evolutionary entity that has its own navigational instruments and temporality we need new moral and political values agency according to its complex nature.

ZMIERZCH ANTROPOCENU

Zjawiska te przemieszczają sprawczość i kreatywność w postludzką technosferę zdejmując z niej demoniczną złowrogą kurtynę. Jeśli porzucimy te relacje i zawrócimy z drogi dążenia do współegzystencji bytów nieludzkich, środowiska, sztucznej inteligencji i ludzi nasza jedyna ostoja Natura pozbawi nas oparcia, Antropocen stanie sie naszym ostatnim rozdziałem.

HELL OF GNOSIS

SMRk Group + / Maciej Śmietański , Piotr Mosur, Wojtek Radtke, Grzegorz Klaman /.
Pavilion 0/4 Beyond Code & Time. September 2022
Spazio Thetis Palazzina Modelli Arsenale Nord Venice Italy.

The multi-element installation Hell of Gnosis will have its premiere in the form of a video recording at Spazio Thetis Palazzina Modelli in Venice during a group exhibition, accompanying the Venice Biennale. Its next edition will be the first full unveiling of this work at the LABOARTORIUM space at Gdansk Shipyard.

The planned, intricate space of the work will create contexts relating to biotechnological, informational and climatic processes. The undefined function and puzzling processes, which the viewer will be able to observe in the work itself, along with the accompanying installations will give the viewer possibilities to modify and influence the elements of the work in unexpected ways by the fact of his presence. The efficiency of the interactor, however, will not guarantee the certainty of the process in which the viewer participates, as some objects have an autonomous status managed by an algorithm. The impact of selected elements such as fluctuations in atmospheric temperature, levels of plankton in the ocean, ocean currents, wind strength solely depends on non-human causes, generated in real time. – We receive data from meteorological satellites provided by EUMETSAT (European Organization for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites) and processed into impulses that creatively modify aspects of the installation. – We remain uncertain as to whether the level of ability to reproduce and develop the “bricks of life” in the “primordial soup” composed of methane, hydrogen, water vapours and organic compounds, such as alanine, glycine, cysteine, methionine and others is actually taking place here and now and can became a next Genesis at any time and place. The individual elements form hybrid a quasi-laboratory and research space, and they will be created through our collaboration with biotechnologists, biologists, chemists, neurologists and computer scientists. These clusters of devices and apparatuses form a machine which occupies our imagination – the human imagination, gazing at its own technosphere like a mirror; they are a kind of an augmented body with which our civilization has equipped us over the past hundreds of years. The technology we have created is beginning to self-modify and autonomise, leaving the human mind outside the symbiotic community

Artist

Painter, author of objects and video projections – prepared in my own technique.

My aim is to create imaginary worlds. His paintings flat and three-dimensional, static and dynamic, universal and detailed. Based on the concept of naturo-culture, I believe in the interpenetration of the organic and that which is considered purely humanistic. I experiment with a variety of materials and invoke natural processes of decomposition and transformation of substances, which for me are usually the starting point for a specific project.

Yao Jui-Chung

Born in Taipei, Taiwan in 1969. Graduated from the Taipei National University of the Arts, and specializes in photography, video, installation and painting. His early works featured a humorous approach that subverts the authoritarian regime during the Cold War, and revolved around the issues concerning place, history, national identity, and Taiwan’s subjectivity. He has invested long-term effort in taking pictures of ruins around Taiwan since 1990. In 2010, he embarked upon the survey project on disused public property in Taiwan, which not only unmasked the society of the spectacle arising from the assorted ideological black holes on this island under globalization, but also heightened the social awareness of this problem and accelerated the governmental policy reform in this regard. Recently, the artist has appropriated Chinese artistic masterpieces and recreated them in his own way as his autobiographical narratives, seeking to usurp the orthodoxy with his strategy of “pseudo-landscapes.” He has partaken on behalf of Taiwan in many prestigious events, including Venice Biennale (1997), Yokohama Triennale (2005), Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art (2009), Shanghai Biennale (2012), Beijing Photo Biennial (2013), Shenzhen Sculpture Biennale (2014), Venice Biennale of Architecture (2014), Seoul International Media Art Biennale (2014), Asia Triennial Manchester. (2014), Asian Art Biennial (2015), Biennale of Sydney (2016), Curitiba Biennial (2019), Krasnoyarsk Biennial (2019), and Taipei Biennial (2020). His recent noteworthy solo exhibitions include The Space that Remains: Yao Jui-Chung Ruins Series (Venice Biennale of Architecture, 2014), Incarnation (TKG+, 2017), and Republic of Cynic (C-LAB, 2020).
